Kill switch hook up
Drill a hole for the kill switch in the location you have predetermined. Thank you for any help -Shane.
Step 1: What Is a Killswitch?
This switch is an Off On switch, and thats where I get lost. I installed a killswitch today, but it only works in reverse. This would likely confound any thieves attempting to steal the car, as it wouldn't immediately suggest the use of a traditional killswitch.
AlexR author GuitarX15 Reply I soldered one wire onto the middle contact on my volume pot. You just need to set up a connection between hot and ground. I really like that you do not have to shut this off each time you leave the vehicle.
So do I solder one of the wires from the switch to the same contact on the volume pot that has the wire going to the input jack?? If thats not it, then maybe you have the wrong switch.
That way, if i change my mind, i can just take it off. Also, I bought a toggle switch On Off that i want to install while I'm in the guitar.
Step 1: Figuring Out the Circuit
Of course this means the unit will be active, and hence require batteries. If I literally attach my wires to the spots shown, will it work?
Remember, you don't need to solder the wires, if you cannot solder. Crimp the butt connector closed over the joined wires ,and pull lightly to make sure the connection is solid. Or do I need On Off? When the circuit is completed by pressing the switchthere no sound is heard.
Introduction: Guitar Killswitch
Drill a hole for the kill switch to prepare it for mounting. When i connect one of the kills switch hook up to the ground every thing sounds normal but when i connect the other wire to the output wire it makes a wierd, buzzing sound like hum, but louder. I'd imagine "push off", but I want to be absolutely sure. I have been experimenting with killswitches for about 20 years and have found a better alternative to the pushbutton momentary switch, at least for me it is better.
